DALLAS, Texas, United States--Four-time world record holder Calvin Mees, also known as Cal Mees, from Dallas, Texas, USA, earned World Record Academy's "Athlete of the Year" honor, after setting four world record in hockey: Most Consecutive Hockey Games Played By An Individual, Most ice hockey games played by an individual in one year, Most ice hockey teams played on by an individual in one year and Most ice hockey leagues played on by an individual in one year.
"Thank you very very much, this is so super exciting ! ...Athlete of the Year ! I am more than honored!," said Calvin Mees in an email statement to the World Record Academy.
Cal Mees said: "I am a lifetime hockey player, I started playing ice hockey when I was 6 years old in Bismarck, North Dakota. At age 61, I love playing hockey even more now than when I was a kid. As a member of the Dallas Warriors disabled veterans hockey team, I work with the team to create awareness and support for the team and its individual military veteran members.
"My motivation for setting these World Records came out of my love for the sport of ice hockey , the countless incredible memories and camaraderie of friends it has created for me, and my desire to create more awareness for my veteran brothers on my Dallas Warriors disabled veterans hockey team.
"Although it was a lot of work to set up and the event was tiring, I had the time of my life achieving these World Records."
These world record events were sponsored by:
Ice at The Parks at The Parks Mall in Arlington, Texas
FW Promo, Haltom City, Texas
Wes Dauphinot, Attorney at Law, Arlington Texas (witnessed and adjudicated the entire event on behalf of the World Record Academy).
