Santa Monica, California, United States--After eight hours and 25,629 of their iconic pancakes served to 8,543 guests during a free event at the Santa Monica Pier called “20K For Pancake Day,” the restaurant chain IHOP set the new world record for the Most Pancakes Served in Eight Hours, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

"The most pancakes served in 8 hours is 25,689, and was achieved by IHOP (USA) in Santa Monica, California, USA, on 1 March 2025," the Guinness World Records says.

"In addition to breaking the Guinness World Records title, IHOP donated $20,000 USD to the non-profit organization Feeding America in celebration of National Pancake Day."

"On Saturday, the breakfast chain held a free event at the Santa Monica Pier called “20K For Pancake Day,” aiming to serve 20,000 pancakes and break the record. For every pancake served, IHOP donated $1 to Feeding America’s partner, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, to ensure no one is hungry," the thecorsaironline.com says.


"By the end of the day, thanks to the IHOP team flipping those pancakes nonstop, the crowd of breakfast enjoyers was able to officially break the Guinness World Record in less than eight hours.


"The final number of pancakes served was 25,629, along with twenty-thousand dollars being donated to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Guinness World Records adjudicator, Michael Empric, presented the record breaking award."

"With this year being the 20th anniversary of the beloved holiday, IHOP decided they would attempt to break the record for the most pancakes served in an eight-hour period this past Sunday at Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles, a good spot to ensure a big turnout," the Guilty Eats says.

"After eight hours, they took home the World Record, serving 25,629 of their iconic pancakes to 8,543 guests. And if you ask me, it's pretty flippin' cool that they could pull that off ahead of the actual holiday, which is today."

"The restaurant chain’s "20K for Pancake Day" event aimed to break the record for the most pancakes served in an eight-hour period. From 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., IHOP plans to give away 20,000 free pancakes at the pier," the FOX News reports.


""National Pancake Day is a holiday our fans have come to know and love, which is why we wanted to make the celebration even bigger for our 20th anniversary," Lenna Yamamichi, IHOP’s vice president of brand creative, said in a statement.


"IHOP’s Month of Giving campaign last year raised the equivalent of one million meals, the company said."

"For every pancake served during the record attempt, IHOP will donate $1 to Feeding America®, directly supporting the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and its mission to end hunger in LA County," the official press release says.


"In line with its mission of putting purpose behind its pancakes, IHOP will continue its partnership with Feeding America throughout March. From March 1 to March 31, guests are encouraged to support their local communities by making on-check donations or rounding up their check to help provide meals for people facing hunger."
