"This was announced by the mayor of A Cañiza, Luis Piña, during the celebration of the 58th edition of their Ham Fair, where it is customary to bake a large sandwich that is later distributed among the attendees.

"On this occasion, they managed to bake a rustic bread loaf that exceeded the 19.5 meters in length from the previous year, which they filled with a single slice of ham measuring 23.30 meters. “The 20.38 m sandwich had a total baking time of 3 hours, with the loaf remaining within 6 m of the oven, on average between 35 and 40 minutes, resulting in a tasty sandwich made with rustic bread enriched with our ham,” said Piña.

"We sold the sandwich at one Euro per portion and gave the money to charity. Nico is delighted to have made the record books," said an organiser.
