""For the purposes of the record, a paper rocket is defined as a toy made entirely of paper that fits onto a straw, and when the straw is blown through, the rocket flies into the air," the science center said in a news release."

"Orlando Science Center officially achieved a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title on Saturday, November 16 with a massive launch of paper rockets in the Dr. Phillips CineDome," the official website says.



"An official judge from Guinness World Records was onsite to verify the attempt and confirm that the Science Center achieved a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the most people flying paper rockets simultaneously.

"We received an official certificate documenting their world record title, which will also be noted in the 2025 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records."

"For the purposes of the record, a paper rocket was defined as a toy made entirely of paper that fits onto a straw, and when the straw is blown through, the rocket flies into the air. Visitors and members to the Science Center participated in the attempt, reaching the record-setting number of 262 people.

"Each participant was equipped with one paper rocket. The judge allowed three attempts for a successful flight. Participants had to fly their paper rockets within 15 seconds of the launch signal. A flight was considered successful when, because of the air pushing the rocket, the paper rocket flew upwards or horizontally. Only successful flights were counted."

"The world record for the most paper aircraft launched simultaneously is 12,672, and was organized by REALIZAR IMPACT MARKETING and FC PORTO at the Dragao Stadium, Porto, Portugal, on 2 November 2007," the Guinness World Records says.

"The most people flying paper-copters simultaneously is 4,212 and was achieved by NuSkin Greater China (China) at the Venetian, Macau SAR, China, on 17 December 2014," the Guinness World Records says.
