World’s Largest Mermaid Convention, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.
"Attracting hundreds of merfolk from around the world, MerMagic Con is proud to present a variety of activities, classes, and seminars from some of the mermaid industry’s biggest names," the Prince William Living says.
"New and returning programming includes modeling workshops, photoshoot sessions, certifications from both the National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) and Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), and more!
"In addition to its programming, MerMagic Con also features artisans, small businesses, and craftsmen in the Vendor Hall; visit MerMagic-con.com for full details. Many of new additions expand learning opportunities for experienced and new mermaids alike. From Submerge’s underwater modeling workshops to the ins and outs of trademarks with The Mermaid Lawyer, Charlotte Towne, there’s something for everyone. "
"Held at an aquatic center in Manassas, in the eastern United States, the convention is billed as the world’s largest dedicated to mermaids, and attracts enthusiasts from all walks – or swims – of life," the Phnom Penh Post says.
"The society’s founder Che Monique said she posts pictures of the group’s members swimming and performing tricks in the pool while decked out in their mermaid finest on Instagram to encourage others to think, “hey, I can do that too.”
"On the trade show floor, vendors sold everything from full tails to accessories to decorate and finish a mermaid’s look, including headpieces, necklaces, rings and clothing."
"Like mythical creatures from an animation classic brought to life, hundreds of people donned finned outfits and took to Virginia's indoor waters to celebrate the magic of mermaids, a glittering spectacle hailed by participants embracing diversity and inclusion," the France 24 says.
"The MerMagic Convention held at an aquatic center in Manassas, in the eastern United States, is billed as the world's largest dedicated to mermaids, and attracts enthusiasts from all walks -- or swims -- of life.
"In addition to programs on fin treatment and water safety, the convention hosted workshops this weekend on "Diversity in Mermaiding" and "MerMakeup for All Shades of the Lagoon" -- not to mention a panel boldly titled "Fat Mermaids Make Waves."
"Parts of the two-day MerMagic Con in Virginia, US, are based on modelling but the Society of Fat Mermaids is aiming to include plus-sized people. Sessions included a panel on environmental activism for mermaids, a tail repair clinic and lessons to improve dolphin kick technique," The Sun says.
"Many so-called merfolk spend thousands on their tails and outfit, with most tails being custom-made out of silicone while others are foam and fabric. They’re certainly giving Disney’s Ariel a swim for her money as they head Under The Sea."
