Abilene, Kansas, United States--Designed by local artist Jason Lahr, Fluter’s Creek Metal Works, the giant buckle unveiled at Eisenhower Park in Abilene, Kansas, features Dwight D. Eisenhower, Wild Bill Hickok, Abilene & Smoky Valley Railroad, Historic Seelye Mansion, C.W. Parker carousel horse, C.L. Brown telephone, a racing Greyhound and Chisholm Trail longhorn inlaid with blue quartz; at 19 feet 10 ½ inches wide and 13 feet 11 ¼ inches tall (not including the frame), it sets the world record for the World’s Largest Belt Buckle, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

"The buckle is a project of the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau which hopes the new roadside attraction will entice travelers to stop and visit the Best Historic Small Town. The project is funded by a Kansas Tourism Attraction Development Grant and from donations from 100 businesses and individuals. The buckle garnered nationwide attention when Jefferson White, a.k.a. “Jimmy” from the hit tv show Yellowstone shared about the project."
"Almost 20 feet wide and 14 feet high, built out of metal inlaid with blue quartz tributes to local heroes and attractions. You can climb a staircase and pose as if wearing the belt buckle," the Roadside America says.

"The project was funded through a Kansas Tourism Attraction Development grant, and donations from 100 different businesses and individuals. Smaller commemorative buckles were made and sold to people throughout the U.S. who backed the project. Names of those who contributed can be found on the back of the buckle."

"From the Abilene Convention and Visitor's Bureau (201 NW 2nd Street), go north one block to 3rd Street. Turn left onto 3rd Street. Go west until you reach Pine Street. Turn right onto Pine Street. Just past Eisenhower Park and the Rose Garden, visitors will see the belt buckle standing tall."

"When Abilene revealed the buckle on December 21, 2022, it was 19 feet, 10.5 inches wide by 13 feet, 11.25 inches tall. It stands on a platform in Eisenhower Park. Visitors may climb stairs to a platform behind the buckle.

Our Visitors Guide received a Communicator Awards Award of Distinction, and Travel + Leisure named Abilene one of the 15 Best Small Towns for a Summer Vacation,” Roller Weeks said. “These awards continue to recognize our efforts to market Abilene as a great place to visit.”

"The belt buckle is easy to find across from the Rose Garden (that is not in bloom in March). Going to see the Belt Buckle is a treat. It is in great condition with wonderful images around it. Climbing the staircase behind it affords a great view of the rodeo arena. It also allows one to stand above the belt making for a wonderful photo op. Free and always open."
