Most weight lifted by kettlebell swing in one minute, Ray Hibnes sets world record

Butte, Montana, United States--Ray Hibnes, of Butte, Montana, United States, selected a 132-pound kettleball at his local gym, Kinetic Fitness, and completed 38 swings in 60 seconds (the equivalent of 5,148 pounds), to set the mew world record for the most weight lifted by kettlebell swing in one minute, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

"Ray Hibnes, of Butte, selected a 132-pound kettleball at his local gym, Kinetic Fitness, and completed 38 swings in 60 seconds to attempt the world record for the most weight lifted by kettlebell swing in one minute," the UPI reports.

"Hibnes lifted the equivalent of 5,148 pounds, smashing the previous record of 4,815 pounds set by Swiss man Stefan Schwitter in 2023.

""This is part of a bigger goal that hopefully I can use something that I am relatively good at to work with people who know how to raise money for charitable events and tie that in and hopefully we can do more than just swing a piece of steel around," he told KXLF-TV."

"The heaviest weight lifted by kettlebell swing in one minute (male) is 2,184 kg (4,814.89 lb), achieved by Stefan Schwitter (Switzerland) in Pfäffikon, Zurich, Switzerland, on 11 February 2023," the Guinness World Records says.

"Stefan has previously achieved records for the most weight lifted by kettlebell swing in 24 hours (male) and heaviest weight lifted by kettlebell swing in one hour (male)."

"A Butte man is kicking off 2025 as a Guinness Book of World Records holder for completing more than 5,000 pounds worth of kettlebell swings in one minute," the KXLF-TV reports.

"I could probably look around Butte and find a dozen guys who are stronger than me, if not more. I just chose—I chose to work a very specific record and I was successful today," says Ray Hibnes.

"By day, Hibnes works in an IT department and by night he has a side gig as a personal trainer for teens who are looking to improve as athletes."

"Today we were honored to be a small part of Ray Hibnes Guinness World Records attempt for the heaviest kettlebell swing in 1 min," the Kinetic Fitness says.

"At a whopping 132lbs, he completed 39 swings. Congrats champ!"
