Longest line of whoopie pies, world record in Portland, Maine, United States

Portland, Maine, United States--Ambitious Mainers lined up 2,121 whoopie pies outside Hadlock Field in Portland, during an event organized by the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival, Portland Sea Dogs and Wicked Whoopies, which sets the world record for the Longest line of whoopie pies, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

"Ambitious Mainers lined up 2,121 whoopie pies outside Hadlock Field in Portland, according to the Center Theatre for the Performing Arts in Dover-Foxcroft. That event was organized by the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival, Portland Sea Dogs and Wicked Whoopies, which provided the sweets," the Bangor Daily News reports.

"Now the Guinness Book of World Records has confirmed it as the longest line of whoopie pies, marking the first whoopie pie-related record acknowledged by the organization.

"“We know that Maine put Whoopie Pies on the map and now, for the first time, Maine has put whoopie pies in the Guinness Book of World Records,” said Patrick Myers, executive director of the Center Theatre and an organizer of the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival."

"The longest line of whoopie pies is 2,121 and was achieved by Maine Whoopie Pie Festival, Portland Sea Dogs, and Wicked Whoopies (all USA), in Portland, Maine, USA, on 9 June 2023," the Guinness World Records says.

"The event was organised at Hadlock Field, the homefield of the Portland Sea Dogs baseball team, and all pies were distributed to attendees after the game."

"The Guinness Book of World Records has confirmed that the Portland Sea Dogs, Wicked Whoopies, and the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival, have achieved the World Record for the “Longest Line of Whoopie Pies” on June 9, 2023 in Portland, Maine," the MLB.com says.

"The event was organized as part of the Maine Whoopie Pies-themed game for the Portland Sea Dogs, on the front plaza at Hadlock Field. The official record included 2,121 whoopie pies, provided by Wicked Whoopies, stacked in a line in the design of a giant whoopie pie. This feat marked the first record of its kind to be acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records.

"The Maine Whoopie Pies represents the longest-standing alternate identity for the Sea Dogs after the rebrand made its debut in 2019. This season will mark the fifth time the team has taken the field as the Whoopie Pies - a nod to the official state treat of Maine. Wicked Whoopies is proud to have baked Maine’s iconic state treat for 30 years and will be selling their famous Whoopie Pies at the game once again this season for fans to enjoy. Slugger will also be joined by “Sweetie Pie”, the official mascot of the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival for the game."

"The Portland Sea Dogs teamed up with the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival and Wicked Whoopies to attempt the record for the longest line of whoopie pies in June of last year, but the process of having it verified as a Guinness World Record took several months," the UPI reports.

"The 2,121 whoopie pies were arranged in a straight line before being reorganized into an image of a massive whoopie pie and served to attendees at the baseball team's field. Whoopie pies, a renowned Maine delicacy, are composed of two cookie-shaped cake pieces with a cream filling sandwiched in the middle."

"The Portland Sea Dogs have achieved the Guinness World Record for the longest line of whoopie pies. They set the record during a game on June 9, 2023," the WGME reports.

"The event was organized as part of the Maine Whoopie Pies-themed game for the Portland Sea Dogs. The Sea Dogs took the field as the Maine Whoopie Pies on that record-setting night in a contest with the Akron RubberDucks. The official record included 2,121 whoopie pies provided by Wicked Whoopies."
