Viera, Florida, United States--Kaitlin Donner, Florida-based runner, triathlete, physical therapist, and mom and her 18-month-old Mikey crossed the mile mark with the time of 5:11 at Viera High School on the newly named, Acosta-Streufert Track, setting the new world record for the Fastest mile pushing a pram (female), according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.
"A Florida mom of two and physical therapist is now the world record holder for the fastest mile while pushing a stroller (female): 5:11.13," the Runner's World says.
"Donner’s husband and her nearly 5-year-old son joined the spectators, with her eldest son running back and forth across the infield to cheer on his mom and baby brother.
“It was a really cool to have that community involvement,” Donner said. “There were a lot more people than I expected, and it made me very uncomfortable.”
"The fastest mile pushing a pram (female) is 5 min 11.46 sec, and was achieved by Kaitlin Donner (USA) in Viera, Florida, USA, on 19 April 2024," the
Guinness World Records says.
"Kaitlin chose to attempt this record as it combines her two greatest passions- her family and running/fitness. She dedicates this feat to all the moms that have inspired her along the way."
"I ran at University of Florida on track and field scholarship and cross-country scholarship for three years for the 1,500 meters and transitioned over to triathlon, was on the U.S. national team for several years on the ITU circuit trying to qualify for the Olympics, and was in two Olympic selection events, but unfortunately didn't make the team," the
NPR says.
"And then after my first son was born, kind of transitioned away from triathlon. I didn't want to travel quite as much and have that living-out-of-a-suitcase lifestyle. I wanted to be home more. So opened up a PT practice and then just started running more."
"On April 19, Melbourne, Florida-based runner, triathlete, physical therapist, and mom Kaitlin Donner set a new women’s fastest one-mile stroller run world record," the RUN says.
"Her 18-month-old Mikey was all smiles as they crossed the finish line, but he’s still a little too young to comprehend that his mom finished with a time of 5 minutes, 11 seconds—an astonishing 13 seconds faster than the previous record set by Colorado runner Neely Gracey.
"It was her friend Brittany Streufert, director of operations for Space Coast Runners (a non-profit that promotes fitness within Brevard County), who had been begging Donner to give it a try ever since Ruben Sança broke the men’s record (4:32) in August 2022."
"Kaitlin Donner, 34, attempted to break the Guinness World Record for fastest mile pushing a stroller. The mom of two knows a thing or two about running as a former professional Team USA triathlete and regular on the local running scene," the Florida Today reports.
“It was a lot more fun than I expected it to be going after the mile,” Donner said. “I didn’t expect so many people to show up to watch and cheer. I think that speaks volumes about our amazing running community here in Brevard County.”
“I also didn’t realize how much it (the record attempt) would resonate with women,” Donner said. “I hope it inspires parents, moms and the athletic community.”
