World's Largest Collection of Toothpaste Tubes, Val Kolpakov sets world record

"Val Kolpakov, a dentist from Georgia in America, owns the world’s largest collection of toothpaste, according to the Guinness Book of Records — 2,037 different tubes from all over the world," the Scottish Dental Magazine says.

"He estimates the value of his collection to be about £24,000. Part of it is on display at his dental office, which he has turned into a “mini-museum” with tubes adorning most shelves, cabinets and walls, while the rest of the collection is stored in his home.

"His favourite is a set of three whisky-flavoured toothpastes — rye, scotch, and bourbon — manufactured by Don Poynter, the novelty device inventor, in the 1950s. The novelty toothpaste contains three per cent alcohol. He is also fond of the rocket-shaped Orbit Dental Cream from the 1960s, which came with instructions to mail 25 cents for rocket fuel to launch the empty container in the air."

"A man has maintained his world record title for the largest collection of toothpaste tubes.Val Kolpakov, a dentist from Alpharetta, Georgia, has a collection of thousands of toothpaste tubes, according to a new press release from Guinness World Records," the New York Post says.

"Kolpakov was first recognized as the world record holder on June 15, 2012, and it appears he still has the largest known toothpaste tube collection. Guinness World Records reported this week that Kolpakov’s collection includes 2,037 toothpaste tubes from all over the globe."

"The world's largest collection of toothpaste belongs to a dentist. Dr. Val Kolpakov set a Guinness World Record with more than 3,000 tubes from all over the world," the NPR says.

"He told WXIA he started out collecting pulled teeth but decided toothpaste is, quote, "much more exciting." It's good that he switched because he displays his thousands of artifacts in his office. Imagine patients arrived instead to see thousands of teeth."

"A Georgia dentist earned a Guinness World Records title for his collection of 2,037 different toothpaste tubes, with unusual flavors including wasabi and whiskey," the UPI reports.

"Dr. Val Kolpakov, who practices dentistry in Alpharetta, said his collection includes rare toothpastes from countries including Japan, Korea, China, India and Russia.

"Kolpakov said some of the most unusual tubes displayed at his dental practice's "mini museum" include a trio of whiskey-flavored tubes in rye, scotch and bourbon varieties. He said the novelty toothpastes, manufactured by Don Poynter in the 1950s, contain 3% alcohol."

"Val Kolpakov, a dentist from Georgia, USA, owns the world’s largest collection of toothpaste tubes. His collection consists of 2,037 different tubes from all over the world, including items from Japan, Korea, China, India and Russia," the Guinness World Records says.

"He estimates the value of his collection to be over $30,000 (£24,265). Part of it is on display at his dental office, which he has turned into a “mini museum” with tubes adorning most shelves, cabinets and walls, whilst the rest of the collection is stored in his home."

"Dr. Val Kolpakov is a dentist who actually started out collecting pulled teeth. He switched hobbies and began collecting different types of toothpaste. So far, he has amassed a collection of over 3000 different tubes from everywhere in the world," the Southeast Family Dental says.

"He switched from pulling teeth to collecting toothpaste because it was “more exciting”. Of course, he displays his entire collection in his Saginaw, MI, dental surgery for all of his patients to see. It’s probably a much nicer sight than his previous collection.

"It is probably no surprise that will a collection of toothpaste so large, Dr. Val Kolpakov holds the Guinness World Record for the largest collection of toothpaste."

"A dentist from Georgia owns the world's largest toothpaste collection, including tubes from all over the globe and featuring quirky flavours from wasabi to whisky," The Mirror says.

"Val Kolpakov started his collection in 2001 as he wanted to learn more about all available toothpaste on the market. But soon after starting his collection, he realised it was "a very interesting hobby" - and two decades later, he has 2,037 different tubes from all around the world, including items from Japan, Korea, China, India and Russia.

"He estimates the value of his collection to be over $30,000 (£24,500) - and part of it is on display at his dental office in Alpharetta, Georgia, which he has transformed into a "mini-museum" with shelves, cabinets and walls decorated with toothpaste. The rest of the collection is stored at his home, according to Guinness World Records."

"Kolpakov, known to patients as “Dr. Val,” said his interest in collecting tubes of toothpaste started when he read about Carsten Gutzeit, a German who collected 500 tubes. He began buying toothpastes on eBay and contemporary versions in stores," the World Record Academy said back in 2010, when his world record was first recognized.

"About a fourth of his Largest toothpaste collection is displayed in the waiting room at the Denture Care Clinic, 1227 N. Michigan. Kolpakov works there as a denture specialist.

"One of the items Kolpakov considers to be the oldest, most rare and most expensive: an English antique Georgian 1801 silver tooth powder box. Toothpaste was not invented at that point, and tooth powders were used instead. He paid more than $1,500 for the box."
