Älmhult, Sweden--A few dozen mattresses with snugly pillows and sleep masks were lined up in front of IKEA Museum in Älmhult, Sweden, attempting for a cosy nap in the fresh air; the scene was a place where 2,052 co-workers set the new world record for the Largest gathering of people wearing two-piece pyjamas, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

"2,052 IKEA co-workers broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the largest gathering of people wearing two-piece pyjamas (single venue). The achievement took place in Älmhult, Sweden, the heart of IKEA, and marked the beginning of a year-long initiative focused on improving sleep for the many people," IKEA says.


"“We’re thrilled about this collective effort, coming together to highlight the importance of sleep,” says Fredrika Inger, Managing Director of IKEA of Sweden.


“Good sleep benefits everyone, and we believe that by prioritizing it, we can genuinely make a big difference. Small adjustments, like choosing the right pillow or lighting can lead to big improvements. Our goal is to make these improvements accessible to everyone because good sleep should be something everyone can achieve.”

"IKEA’s decision to dedicate a full year to improving sleep is rooted in the fact that many people still struggle to achieve good quality rest, despite widespread recognition of sleep’s importance.


"The IKEA Life at Home report reveals that 55% of people rate sleep as their most important well-being activity at home. Yet, numerous studies show that as many as 1 out of 2 adults report dissatisfaction with their sleep, affecting daily functioning and work performance."

"Furniture company Ikea gathered 2,052 employees at its first store in Sweden to hold the world's largest pajama party. The chain broke the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing two-piece pajamas at a single venue at the store in Almhult," the UPI says.

"The bed linen was freshly pressed. A few dozen mattresses with snugly pillows and sleep masks were lined up in front of IKEA Museum in Älmhult, tempting for a cosy nap in the fresh air.


"The only thing missing for a quality sleep in the heart of IKEA was peace and quiet – the scene was a place where 2,052 co-workers set the world record for the largest gathering of people wearing two-piece pyjamas, kicking off the company’s new fiscal year dedicated to improving sleep. Most of the participants wore limited-edition pyjamas, inspired by IKEA veggie balls and fully made of recycled plastic."
