World's Longest Piece of Turkey Bacon, world record in Lebanon, Pennsylvania

Lebanon, Pennsylvania, United States--Godshall's Quality Meats in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, America's 3rd largest Turkey Bacon brand, created a slice that was 17 feet and ¾ inches long by 23 inches wide, during National Turkey Lovers Month, thus setting the world record for being the World's Longest Piece of Turkey Bacon, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

"Godshall's Quality Meats is the official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title holder for the longest piece of turkey bacon. Godshall's broke the record title at their facility in Lebanon, PA on the longest day of the year during National Turkey Lovers Month," the Godshall's Quality Meats says.

And, it was only right to attempt a world record of this size on the longest day of the year during National Turkey Lovers month to kick off summer," said Ron Godshall, President of Godshall's Quality Meats.

"We've been preparing for several weeks making sure our team members and facility had everything needed to produce the world record setting slice of Turkey Bacon and we're thrilled to now be the official title holders!"

"To obtain the record for the Longest Piece of Turkey Bacon, Godshall's created a slice that was 17 feet and ¾ inches long by 23 inches wide.

"An official surveyor and adjudicator from Guinness World Records was onsite during the attempt to ensure all criteria was met. The piece took the cooperation of more than two dozen Godshall's team members to create and is over 1,000 times larger than a regular slice of turkey bacon.

"It was wood smoked for over six hours in an enormous oven that is over 25 feet long and 10 feet wide. Afterwards, the slice was served at a BLT luncheon for hundreds of Godshall's employees and local dignitaries to enjoy as well as packaged up for employees and a local food bank to receive.

"Since 1945, Godshall's has grown into a thriving company with facilities in Telford, Lebanon, Emmaus and Souderton, Pennsylvania.

"To ensure that all criteria was met for Godshall’s to obtain the world record, a Guinness World Records official surveyor and adjudicator visited the Lebanon plant," the Meat & Poultry says.

"Godshall’s noted that the production of the piece of bacon required the help of over two dozen employees. It was wood smoked in a 25-foot-by-10-foot oven for more than six hours.

"In celebration of the team’s effort, hundreds of Godshall’s employees and local leaders gathered to each enjoy a slice of the massive piece of bacon in a BLT luncheon. Godshall’s packaged up the leftover bacon for employees and a local food bank."

"Godshall's chose June 21 as it is the longest day of the year and falls within National Turkey Lovers Month."

"Godshall's Quality Meats in Lebanon celebrated National Turkey Lovers Month and the first day of summer on Wednesday by cooking the world's longest piece of turkey bacon," the UPI says.

"Ron Godshall, the company's president, said the breakfast item cooked for more than 6 hours in a smokehouse oven measuring 25 feet long and 10 feet wide.

"The turkey bacon was then broken into smaller portions and served at a BLT luncheon hosted by Godshall's. The rest was donated to Lebanon County Christian Ministries."

"Godshall's Quality Meats enters the Guinness World Record book, making an over 17-foot strip of turkey bacon at its Lebanon facility during Turkey Lovers Month," the Lebanon Daily News says.

"In order for Godshall’s to achieve the record of Largest Piece of Turkey Bacon, the slice had to be over 16.5 feet long. An official surveyor and adjudicator from Guinness measured the strip at 17 feet and three fourths inches by 23 inches wide.

"Ron Godshall, president of Godshall’s Quality Meats, said the company has been preparing for several weeks to make sure the facility and employees were equipped to tackle the title."
