World's largest Tequila & Mezcal selection, world record in Metuchen, New Jersey

Metuchen, New Jersey, United States--With over 1,000 bottles of agave spirits available on demand, the Meximodo restaurant in Metuchen, New Jersey, United States, sets the world record for having the World's largest Tequila & Mezcal selection, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

" As of 2022, New Jersey was the 15th-largest consumer of tequila in the U.S., sitting millions of cases behind heavy hitters like California, Texas and Florida. Metuchen, known for its tight-knit community of artists and commuters, boasts a residential population of just under 15,000.

"Browsing the restaurant’s liquor list, you’ll find industry regulars like Casamigos, Don Julio and Fortaleza alongside a suite of lesser-known brands and up-and-comers. The mezcal list boasts just about every agave varietal under the Mexican sun, while a “miscellaneous” section features niche offerings of sotol, bacanora and raicilla alongside a healthy assortment of liqueurs and rums.

"Customers can walk into the Metuchen restaurant and find a tequila suited to their flavor profile. The agave liquors can taste spicy or smoky, Pingitore said. Among the 1,000-plus tequila and mescal bottles in Meximodo's library, Pingitore said his favorites are El Tesoro and Tequila Ocho."

"Le Malt Hospitality, which owns Meximodo, spent months gathering and itemizing agave spirits to create the list, including both massive tequila brands and small, family-owned brands discovered through research. Le Malt Hospitality had an advantage because it owns the Wine Chateau online liquor store.
