Stamford, Connecticut, United States--Marlboro, an American brand of cigarettes owned and manufactured by Philip Morris USA (a branch of Altria) within the United States and by Philip Morris International (NYSE: PM) outside the US, has a brand value of more than 32.6 billion U.S. dollars, thus setting the world record for being the World’s Most Valuable Tobacco Brand, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.
"Despite a 6% drop in brand value to USD32.6 billion, Marlboro retains its position as the world’s most valuable tobacco brand for the tenth consecutive year," the Brand Finance says.
"It leads the sector by a significant margin, with a brand value more than five times that of L&M, which holds the second spot."
"In 2024, Marlboro was by far the most valuable tobacco brand in the world, with a brand value of more than 32.6 billion U.S. dollars. L&M, which ranked second, had a brand value of just under 6.2 billion U.S. dollars that year," the Statista says.
"In 2022, prevalence of smoking in the United States was at its highest among non-Hispanic adults of races other than White or Black. Smoking has, however, become less common in the United States over the past few decades: between 2000 and 2018, the number of smokers has decreased by almost ten percent."
"With just over 31.80 billion U.S. dollars in sales, Philip Morris International was the leader among tobacco companies around the world in 2023," the Statista says.
"The company, head-quartered in New York, sells its products in over 180 countries. Its most recognizable brand, launched in 1904, is Marlboro.
"The company was followed by British American Tobacco, makers of Camel, Lucky Strike, and Newport cigarettes. Imperial Tobacco, makers of Kool, and Winston cigarettes, came in third."
"In the company’s Tobacco 10 ranking, Marlboro remained the undisputed leader with a brand value of $34.74 billion followed by Pall Mall ($6.54 billion) and L&M ($6.35 billion)," the Tobacco Reporter says.
"The list is dominated by combustible brands, but there are two noteworthy exceptions—smokeless tobacco brand Copenhagen and heated-tobacco product (HTP) IQOS."
"Marlboro is an American brand of cigarettes owned and manufactured by Philip Morris USA (a branch of Altria) within the United States and by Philip Morris International (PMI, now separate from Altria) outside the US. (Wikipedia)
"In Canada, a separate product using the Marlboro brand is owned and manufactured by Imperial Tobacco Canada, while the international product is distributed in Canada by a unit of PMI under the name "Rooftop".
"Marlboro's largest cigarette manufacturing plant is located in Richmond, Virginia."
"For the 10th year in a row, Marlboro has made the annual ranking of the world's most valuable brands published by BrandZ, and compiled by consultancy Millward Brown," the
CNN reports.
"In the latest survey, released Tuesday, the Marlboro brand was valued at $80 billion, or 19% more than a year ago. That's No. 10 in the world and more than Facebook (FB) and Amazon (AMZN).
"The crackdown on cigarette marketing may actually help Marlboro by making it harder for other companies, with less well known brands, to break through."
"Our combustible tobacco products portfolio is led by Marlboro, the world’s best-selling international cigarette, which is complemented by L&M, Chesterfield, Philip Morris, and Parliament," the official website says.
"Globally, these products made up 24.9 percent of the cigarette market in 2023 (excluding China and the U.S.)."
"PMI’s biggest selling cigarette brands include Marlboro, Merit, Parliament, Virginian S, L&M, Philip Morris, Bond Street, Chesterfield, Lark, Muratti, Next and Red & White," the
Tabacco Tacticts says.
"The Marlboro brand is the biggest selling cigarette brand in the international market,16 and comprised of three cigarette types: Flavour, Gold and Fresh."
"Philip Morris International Inc. (PMI) is an American multinational tobacco company, with products sold in over 180 countries. The most recognized and best selling product of the company is Marlboro. Philip Morris International is often referred to as one of the companies comprising Big Tobacco.
"The company's legal seat is in Stamford, Connecticut, but it does not operate in the United States of America. Philip Morris USA, a subsidiary of PMI's former owner American parent Altria group, owns the Philip Morris brands there. PMI's operational headquarters are in Lausanne, Switzerland. He employs more than 1,500 people.
"The company ranked No. 128 in the 2023 Fortune 500 list of the largest corporations by total revenue." (Wikipedia)
