World's Largest Dinosaur Costume Party, LEGOLAND California Resort sets world record

Carlsbad, California, United States--LEGOLAND® California Resort made history by breaking the record for the largest dinosaur costume party in the world; the monumental event, attended by 1,273 people dressed in head-to-toe dinosaur costumes, sets the new world record for the World's Largest Dinosaur Costume Party (Largest gathering of people dressed as dinosaurs), according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

"The largest gathering of people dressed as dinosaurs consists of 252 people, and was achieved by Elton Castee and TFIL (both USA) in Los Angeles, California, USA, on 26 January 2019," the Guinness World Records says.

"All participants wore inflatable full-body dinosaur costumes."

"Legoland California Resort is a theme park, miniature park, and aquarium in Carlsbad, California, based on the Lego toy brand. Opening on March 20, 1999, it was the first Legoland park to open outside of Europe.

"The park is currently owned by Merlin Entertainments, which took a controlling interest in 2005. The second park in the United States is Legoland Florida, which opened in 2011. A third park, Legoland New York, opened in May 2021.

"Legoland California attempted a Guinness World Record by gathering 1,273 people in dinosaur costumes for a dance party of prehistoric proportions," the UPI reports.

"The dancing dinos gathered Sunday at the theme park in Carlsbad to attempt the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as dinosaurs.

"The current record of 252 people was set in Los Angeles in 2019. A 2023 event in Dundurn, Saskatchewan, reportedly featured 1,187 people in dinosaur costumes, but that attempt has not been certified by Guinness World Records."

"Taking the title from Dundurn, Saskatchewan, Canada, which broke the record in 2023 with 1,187 dancing dinos, and before that Portland, Oregon in 2022 with just 380 people in dino costumes, and Los Angeles in 2019 with 252 people, San Diego’s Legoland theme park now holds the Guinness World Record title," the fox5sandiego.com reports.

"The event gave the theme park the opportunity to announce the opening date for Dino Valley, Legoland’s newest themed area.
