Los Angeles, California, United States--Kanya Sesser, 31, a former Paralympic track athlete and lifelong skateboarder, broke a Guinness World Record by skateboarding in the handstand position for 19.65 seconds, which is the new world record for the Longest handstand on a skateboard (female), according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

"A woman who was born without legs has now become a world record breaker! Kanya Sesser successfully completed and broke the record for the longest handstand on a skateboard (LA3)," the People Magazine reports.


"Sesser, 31 — who is an athlete, actress and runway model — completed the feat in 19.65 seconds in Los Angeles, per Guinness World Records.


“No legs, no limits," Sesser said in a statement. “I think it’s one of the life-changing career moments that have happened to me."

"The longest handstand on a skateboard (female) - LA3 is 19.65 seconds and was achieved by Kanya Sesser (USA), in Los Angeles, California, USA, on 9 December 2023," the Guinness World Records says.

"Kanya, who has a lifelong congenital absence of both legs, was abandoned as an infant outside a temple in Thailand and found by a passer-by. In 1998 she was adopted by an American family and was raised in Portland, Oregon."

"Kanya discovered skateboarding during her high school years and was instantly hooked. She recalls her first attempt at riding down a hill near her house as the best feeling ever. This newfound passion led her to make history in the sport," The Daily Guardian says.


"Completing a 19.65-second handstand on a skateboard in Los Angeles, Kanya felt a sense of freedom and accomplishment, stating that the skateboard felt like an extension of her legs.


"In a recent interview, Kanye described how being part of the record was one of the strangest moments of his career. She hopes his success will inspire others and leave a lasting impression on future generations. Despite many hardships and multiple surgeries for her web fingers, Kanya’s strong spirit and passion made her a true icon."

"A skateboarder with no legs has broken a Guinness World Record. Kanya Sesser, 31, is a para-athlete and placed second in women's street adaptive skateboarding in 2022 on the Dew Tour. Now, she's set the Guinness World Record for longest handstand on a skateboard by a woman" the Daily Mail reports.


"Sesser has persevered through a difficult journey to get to this point. As a three-week old infant, she was reportedly found on the side of the road in Thailand by a woman passing by.


"She wound up moving to Portland, Oregon, where she grew up with adoptive parents before getting into skateboarding in high school. Sesser insisted that 'no one's grass is greener' as she continues to push the limits of her disability."

"A 31-year-old California woman born without legs broke a Guinness World Record by skateboarding in the handstand position for 19.65 seconds," the UPI reports.

"Kanya Sesser, a former Paralympic track athlete and lifelong skateboarder, took on the challenge in Los Angeles and successfully broke the record for the longest handstand on a skateboard in the LA3 category, which refers to an absence of both legs from above the knees.


"Sesser also has successful careers as a model and actor, appearing in TV shows including The Walking Dead and Hawaii 5-0, as well as the 2022 film Babylon."
