Casey, Illinois, United States--A giant bar spoon was created by Jim Bolin, the man behind all of the world’s largest things in Casey, Illinois, for the Brownie's Place; at an impressive 11 feet 8 inches tall by 1 foot 1 inch wide, this hot-dip galvanized utensil sets the world record for being the World’s Largest Swizzle Spoon, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.
"The World's Largest Swizzle Spoon leans up against Brownie's Place. Brownie is a long time friend and co-worker of Bolin.
"After seeing all the amazing work Bolin had done to promote other businesses, Brownie approached Bolin about creating a World's Largest item to place outside his business," the Big Things in a Small Town says.
"Bolin finds joy in other's entrepreneurial spirit and was excited about the idea of helping out a friend and fellow business owner."
"Casey, Illinois was already home to six world-record holding roadside attractions (among other equally-impressive large but not world’s largest large things) when, on September 28, 2019, Guinness World Records came to town to certify six more. Among the big things that doubled the town’s world record holdings that day was the world’s largest swizzle spoon, which set its own brand new world record," the Silly America says.
"What is a swizzle spoon? Also known as a bar spoon, a swizzle spoon is a spoon with a small bowl and long handle that bartenders use to stir drinks. (Not to be confused with a swizzle stick, which is usually long and straight.)
"This giant bar spoon was created by Jim Bolin, the man behind all of the world’s largest things in Casey, Illinois. At an impressive 11 feet 8 inches tall by 1 foot 1 inch wide, this hot-dip galvanized utensil is among the smallest of the largest in town. But, compared to the diminutive size of the normal sized bar tool, it is beyond over the top."
"Casey’s local bar, Brownie’s Place, is located along South Central Avenue, across the street from the Moose Lodge and next to Uh-Oh Auto," the Roadtrippers.com says.
"Brownie’s plain white exterior would be indistinguishable from similar slices of small towns across the Midwest—if it wasn’t for the World’s Largest Swizzle Spoon, which hangs outside of the bar.
"Set against a graphic featuring a fizzy brown drink, the 11-foot-tall shiny silver spoon dubbed “Twizzle,” received its Guiness designation in 2019."
"Get your cocktail order ready! You can also find the World’s Largest Swizzle Spoon in Casey," the Olio in Iowa says.
"Also known as a “twizzle spoon,” the smaller form of this 11-foot, 8.5-inch bar tool is typically used for mixing drinks.
"When you visit Casey, you’ll find this giant attraction conveniently located outside of a local bar called Brownie’s Place."
"Thanks to Jim Bolin and Big Things Small Town, Casey is now a tourist attraction. Not only does Jim employ more than 250 people with his own business Bolin Enterprises, but he is also giving back to the community in a very unique way through Big Things Small Town. Since 2009, Jim has been the mastermind of creating several world records which helps bring visitors to Casey," the American Galvanizers Association says.
"When I asked Jim what inspires him to give back to the community, he said, "After Building the World’s Largest wind chime to help Whitling Whimsy café succeed. Our family saw the increase of traffic in our small town. That’s what inspired us to build more attractions. Now our town sees between 4,000 to 5,000 visitors per week during the traveling season. Our committee has pulled together to clean and fix-up buildings downtown and start new business/shops which creates more tax revenue. To answer your question, we didn’t want to see our town die like so many small communities around Illinois, at least not without a fight."
"The spoon is more than 11’6” long and was hot-dip galvanized. The coating allowed for Jim to get the aesthetics he was looking for as well as superior corrosion protection allowing for the spoon to last far beyond our lifetime. The spoon's unique look, size, and twist through the handle will definitely make it a tourist attraction."
"I wonder how much alcohol is in a drink big enough to hold this swizzle spoon?
" The World’s Largest Swizzle Spoon can be found in Casey, Illinois leaning up against Brownie’s Place. Nicknamed the “Twizzle Spoon” it stands a total of 11 feet 8.5 inches," the
PoppinUpUSA.com says.
"It claimed it’s title on August 20, 2019. It can be viewed 24/7 and is free."
""Casey is a city in Clark and Cumberland counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. The population was 2,404 at the 2020 census. The Cumberland County portion of Casey is part of the Charleston–Mattoon Micropolitan Statistical Area.
