Columbus, Indiana, United States--A giant toilet it's found in Columbus, Indiana inside of Kidscommons, a children's museum which has been designed to serve children from infants through age twelve; the giant toilet actually works as a slide when you "flush" it; the toilet is part of the ExploraHouse exhibit, which literally lets kids crawl into the walls, tubes, and inner-workings of a home and it sets the world record for being the World's Largest Toilet, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.
"Facilitated by local architect Louis Joyner and assisted by Quatrefoil Exhibit Designers from Maryland and professionals from the Cincinnati Children’s Museum, kidscommons has been designed to serve children from infants through age twelve.
"Our vibrant, safe setting is full of hands-on learning and fun. Spend time in the Childhood Garden, enjoy Our House-Japan, scamper up our 17-foot-tall climbing wall, or hang out in the bubble room, a favorite exhibit from our early days in the pilot museum. Don’t miss museum favorites ExploraHouse, home of our world famous giant toilet, and Kids on the Move, our healthy lifestyles exhibit," the official website says.
"From day one, outreach programs were made available at the museum and in the classroom for grades K-6. That initiative continues today and covers such topics as electricity, insects, bubbles, LEGO robotics, visual arts, and recycling. In addition, public programming has been integral to the educational services we offer to all of our guests, including Wacky Science, Little Explorers, Art Time and more!"
"You read that correctly. Indiana is home to the world's largest toilet. It's found in Columbus, Indiana inside of Kidscommons, a children's museum. Kidscommons is a fun interactive museum that kids (and adults) of all ages would love. One of their coolest features is the world's largest toilet. Take a look at the photo below to get an idea of how big this toilet actually is.
"Oh, and here's the cool thing. This toilet actually works...kind of. You won't want to actually do your business in this toilet. However, you could flush your kids down it if you wanted to! This toilet actually works as a slide when you "flush" it. So yes, you can threaten to flush your kids down the toilet and for once, you'd actually be able to do it," the
WKDQ.com says.
"But is it really the world's largest toilet? There's no official record for one on the Guinness World Records website, but when you search "world's largest toilet" on Google, Kidscommons is the first place that pops up. So for the time being, we will just go with another claim to fame for Indiana. Either way, it's certainly a sight to see in person."
"Inside the Kids Commons childrens' museum, the toilet is part of the ExploraHouse exhibit, which literally lets kids crawl into the walls, tubes, and inner-workings of a home. The toilet is actually a slide that takes kids through the plumbing. A great place to stop off to let the kids burn off some energy," the Roadside America says.
"This was a great stop for the kiddos. Besides the obvious appeal of a gigantic toilet, which is also a slide, there's rock climbing (for an extra fee) and a fantastic bubble room where you can make gigantic bubbles. There is also a free indoor play area across the street with an enormous ship that kids can climb on all the way to the ceiling.
"The Kids Commons in downtown Columbus is a place for kids to play and a museum. It is home to a giant toilet that is part of a giant house display. Once you make it up to the top floor of the "house", you can jump in the toilet and slide down to the bottom. It's fun for kids of all ages!"
"Kidscommons offers families with toddlers to early teens a vibrant, safe setting where they can explore together our three floors of hands-on, interactive exhibits," the Visit Columbus Indiana says.
"Kids will enjoy designing their city of the future in City by Design, climbing our 17′ wall that replicates the front of the building, creating a masterpiece in the Kids-at-Art studio, learning about another culture in Our House Japan, and taking a trip down our world famous giant toilet in ExploraHouse, while learning about the ins and outs of a house.
"Birthday parties and after-hours rentals are also available. Special programs for schools, Scouts and the general public are conducted on a weekly in-house basis to enhance guests’ experience."
"This museum is a huge hit with my 8-year-old daughter, and it has been for the last several years! She has been asking to go back for a LONG time now to the "Potty Museum" as she calls it. It is kind of obvious why after visiting," the
Visit Indiana says.
"This time she informed me it should now be called the "Bubble Museum" because this is her new favorite exhibit!
"The trick we found this time ... we visited in the morning while it was pretty crowded. Left to have lunch, came back, left to have an ice cream and came back once more for the last 45 minutes it was open. Each time we got to hit different exhibits depending on what was or was not crowded. It was her idea and it was genius!"
"Drive 45 minutes south of Indianapolis, and you’ll find Kidscommons, a great children’s museum that’s the perfect spot to play and explore when you’re in the mood for a little day trip out of town. Children can use their creativity to learn about their community at this children’s museum in downtown Columbus, Indiana," the Indy's Child says.
"Probably the most memorable exhibit in the museum, ExploraHouse, is where you will find the museum’s world-famous giant toilet, where kids can actually climb in and discover the “ins and outs” of a toilet. Kids can also learn about how lights work, visit an infrared kitchen, and climb through the chimney to the attic.
"The newest exhibit in the museum, Camp Kidscommons, features a giant treehouse that kids can climb in, play on and explore. The outdoor-inspired exhibit will have kids exploring the treetops, crawling through underground tunnels, relaxing on hammocks, and sliding down slides."
"This amazing attraction is unlike anything you've ever seen before," the Only In Your State says.
"Located at Kidscommons in the ExploraHouse exhibit, the worlds largest toilet is a slide that lets kids learn about plumbing.
"They can also climb into the walls and other inner workings of this oversized house. It's one of the most unique things to see in Indiana."
"This attraction is intended for children, but that doesn't make it any less bizarre," the explore.com says.
"Within a massive playhouse, children can explore between the house walls and tubes. The toilet itself is the entrance to a slide that will take visitors through the plumbing system of this playhouse. It's certainly an interesting way to teach kids about how things function."
"We do not have children or grandchildren but what a great place for children to play and explore. The children were having a blast."
"A good place if you need something cheap to do in town. Although my ten year old finds a bit boring now, my 3 year old loves it."
"Plenty of activities for kids to do and learn lots of places to explore. Great little get away when the weather is bad."
"For a City our size, I can really appreciate having a place like this museum, as it wouldn’t be expected. We have great fun here regularly, as a yearly pass makes 1-3 hour visits easy to do. I’d guess kids up to about age 10 would enjoy it."
"Not a large museum but all the kids enjoyed the activities that was available. More for the younger age groups."
"We came with 4 children who really enjoyed the miniature house they could play with and taking a picture in the toliet was right up their alley."
