Windsor, Ohio, United States--Standing at 33 feet tall at the center of the 50 acre farm, the statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Windsor, Ohio (the inspiration of Pat and "Deacon Ed" Heinz), is covered by over 450,000 mosaic tiles; the design and construction of the statue was donated by Richard Hyslin of Mission, Texas; he and many of his students and other volunteers spent 10,000 hours constructing this amazing work of art, which sets the world record for being the World’s Tallest Our Lady of Guadalupe, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.
"Standing 33 feet tall -- purposefully three feet taller than the previous record-holder -- Our Lady of Guadalupe commemorates an especially well-timed visit by Mary, mother of God, in the 16th century, which helped the Conquistador Cortez to "convert 75,000 Aztec Indians from pagan rituals to Catholic worship," according to a news clipping hanging in the gift shop," the Roadside America reports.
"Our Lady was the inspiration of Pat and "Deacon Ed" Heinz, who bought the farm on which she stands just to build the statue -- a testament to faith and liberal building laws.
"Attached to the figure's back is something resembling the World's Tallest Toaster Coil: her holy radiance. It's made of metal, and during a violent summer lightning storm in flat, northeastern Ohio, one requires unfaltering faith to linger for long."
"A 33-foot-tall statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe depicting the Blessed Virgin Mary stands tall in a rural Ohio farm field, the Silly America reports..
"The statue at Servants of Mary Center for Peace was conceptualized by Pat and “Deacon Ed” Heinz and designed by artist Richard Hyslin.
While there are many statues of Our Lady of Guadalupe found all around the world, this roadside attraction in Ohio is the tallest, "being purposely built three feet larger than the previous record holder and standing on top of a cloud and angel soaring her height to 50 feet tall."
"An enormous statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe greets those who spend time within these peaceful grounds. At 50 feet tall, it’s said to be the world’s largest Our Lady of Guadalupe statue," the Atlas Obscura reports.
"The statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe stands a the center of the 50-acre farm. It towers over a tranquil reflecting pool, just as it has ever since it was dedicated in 1995. The property also includes a chapel, gift shop, and banquet facility, among other features. Individuals of all beliefs and ethnicities are welcome."
"At the center of the 50 acre farm, stands the world's largest statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Mary's likeness stands 50 feet tall and is covered by over 450,000 mosaic tiles. The design and construction of the statue was donated by Richard Hyslin of Mission, Texas. He and many of his students and other volunteers spent 10,000 hours constructing this amazing work of art," the official website says.
"In front of the statue lies the LAKE OF HOPE which is surrounded by the worlds largest illuminated fifteen decade rosary. At night, the view is nothing short of awe inspiring as the beads light up the rural Ohio night sky. Along the path following the rosary, you will find the HOLY INNOCENTS CHAPEL. Inside is the Book of Life containing names of children up to seven years of age who have died due to abortion, miscarriage, or natural causes.
"The Servants of Mary Center for Peace is dedicated to delivering our Lord's message through: Proclaiming the Gospel, Personal Witness, Faithful Servitude and Educating others of Mary's role as the obedient chosen, Holy Mother, leading us to God."
"The Servants of Mary Center for Peace in Ashtabula County, which claims the largest Our Lady of Guadalupe statue in the world, will mark the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Thursday, Dec. 12 with a Mass followed by a Mexican dinner and candlelight procession to the 50-foot statue," the Cleveland.com reports.
"The 20-year-old center, which also has the largest illuminated Rosary in the world, will use the occasion to launch a capital campaign, a spokesman said. It aims to raise at least $500,000 for the upkeep of buildings on the site and to begin construction of outdoor Stations of the Cross and a new chapel able to seat at least 500."
"A 33-foot-tall Our Lady of Guadalupe is especially impressive because she stands out in a rural farm field," the Roadside America (2) says.
"For GPS users, the street address is 6601 Ireland Road, Windsor, Ohio. It's less than a quarter-mile off of state route 86. You will find yourself at the Servants of Mary Center for Peace. If you go around the buildings you can't miss this attraction, as it is very large and located on a field.
"An absolutely breathtaking statue. I was so blessed to see it with some of my children and grandchildren. Worth the trip from Toledo. I will definitely visit again. I loved how the lights resemble a rosary. I wish I could see it lit up."
"Very beautiful, serene place. Wish I could have seen it at night. Nice gift shop. Beautiful chapel. Everything free."
"This has been described as the largest statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe in the world. The statue stands on a cloud with an angel, and is about 50 feet tall. It is covered in mosaic tiles.
"They've deliberately situated it for a dramatic walk. There is a winding walk with dozens of large white globes. There is a pond in front. We visited shortly after All Saints day, and the base of the statue was filled with flowers."
