"Tucked away in the small town of Sugarcreek, you’ll find this world-record-breaking hidden gem. The next time you’re traveling in Ohio Amish Country, you’ll definitely want to stop and get a photo or two," the Only In Your State reports.
"You'll find the massive cuckoo clock on the corner of Main and Broadway Street. From a distance, it looks like just another building, rather than a giant clock. In the 1960s, an Ohio restaurant commissioned a clockmaker to construct the world's largest cuckoo clock. It took 12 years and $50,000 but eventually the clock was completed in the 1970s.
"The clock was fully restored in 2007 after several years of exposure to the outdoor elements had taken a toll on the famous landmark.Today, you can visit the clock for yourself and watch its wooden Oomph-pa band preform every 30 minutes. It's truly a unique sight to see."
"Sugarcreek has its own claim to fame: "The Little Switzerland of Ohio." The big timepiece was built in 1972, and stood for decades on a hill in back of the restaurant. Every 30 minutes, a three-foot-tall couple on tracks danced the polka to Bavarian music played by a five-piece robot oompa band," the Roadside America reports.
"In May 2012 the clock was moved to its new, permanent location on Sugarcreek's Main St. Volunteers worked with clock-like diligently to restore the electrical mechanisms and re-animate the little Bavarian figures. The clock resumed its cuckooing duties in November 2012."
"Featured on the cover of “The Guinness Book of World Records” in 1977, this clock stands 23 feet tall and 24 feet wide," the Cleveland.com says.
"It was built in 1972 for a restaurant in nearby Wilmot and moved to Sugarcreek in 2010. It stands at the corner of Main Street and Broadway.
"Every half-hour, a cuckoo bird pops out, followed by polka-playing band members and a dancing couple. The clock performs daily (although not in the winter)."
"Sugarcreek, Ohio has the privilege of housing the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock. Previously located at a restaurant called “Alpine-Alpa” in Wilmot, the cuckoo clock was moved to Sugarcreek because its known as the “Little Switzerland of Ohio”. It now sits in the square in downtown Sugarcreek on the corner of Main Street and Broadway," the Forever Lawn of Ohio says.
"This clock was featured in the Guinness Book of World Records in 1977 measuring in at 23 feet tall and 24 feet wide.

"We chose ForeverLawn® Select Synthetic Grass to install around the clock to allow people to see the clock up close without damaging landscaping or planting areas. The 700 square feet of artificial turf that we strategically placed allows the Village Square and clock display to stay looking fresh all year without much maintenance needed. Since our installation, the Mayor has gotten multiple compliments a day on the artificial grass from ForeverLawn of Ohio."
"Amish Country in Northeast Ohio isn’t only the home to the world’s largest Amish population, it’s also home of the world’s largest cuckoo clock," the Travel Inspired Living reports.
"Constructed in 1972 and listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, the massive clock measures just over 23 feet and nearly 25 feet wide. It’s huge, but I guess you’d expect that since it is the world’s largest.
"The clock now resides prominently in Sugar Creek, the “Little Switzerland of Ohio” and through restoration efforts, the once defunct clock is slowly coming back to life."
"The world’s largest cuckoo clock as declared by the Guinness Book of World Records (1977 cover) is at the corner of Main and Broadway in Sugarcreek, Ohio – also known as “Little Switzerland of Ohio,” the Ohio Traveler reports.
"This giant cuckoo clock is operational from 9am – 9pm April through November. It measures 23 feet tall by 24 feet wide. On the half-hour, its cuckoo bird pops out, the band appears, and couples dance away to Swiss polka music."
"The Cuckoo Clock goes off every half-hour and and the "band" that comes out plays a little song while 2 characters dance. It's a neat little attraction and cool to see if you are in the area."
"This was the coolest thing to see. The little town itself is cute and has a Switzerland feel to it. You have to visit at a half hour as there is a short show. I love these out of the norm attractions."
"A must see.. just be there on any half hour and you will be greatly pleased a very cute town of a lot of storefronts with Swiss decor."
"Our tour group arrived just in time to see the clock come to life. It was a very nice event. The group enjoyed it."
"We enjoyed listening to the singing and watching the dancing at the Cuckoo clock attraction. Swiss Village is nice and quaint. There are many nice quaint shops in the area also !"
"Interesting and big . I could go back . It is very nice and in a charming setting. This part of the Amish Country is very un touristy too.'
