Las Vegas, Nevada, United States--The MSG Sphere at The Venetian, a sphere-shaped music and entertainment arena being built in Las Vegas, Nevada, near the Las Vegas Strip and east of the Venetian resort, will be, upon its completion (later this year), 366 feet (112 m) high and 516 feet (157 m) wide at its broadest point; it will include seating for 17,500 people, and all seats will have high speed internet access; the venue can accommodate 20,000 people in standing capacity, setting the world record for the World’s Largest Sphere (World's Largest Spherical Structure), according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.
"MSG Sphere at The Venetian is a sphere-shaped music and entertainment arena being built in Paradise, Nevada, near the Las Vegas Strip and east of the Venetian resort. The 17,500-seat auditorium was initially scheduled to open in 2021, but construction was suspended in April 2020 due to a disruption in the project's supply chain, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Construction resumed later that year, and the opening is scheduled for September 2023.
"Upon its completion, the MSG Sphere will be 366 feet (112 m) high and 516 feet (157 m) wide at its broadest point. It will include seating for 17,500 people, and all seats will have high speed internet access. The venue can accommodate 20,000 people in standing capacity. The sphere has nine levels, including the basement, where a VIP club will be located. A total of 23 suites will be included, across the third and fifth floors.
"The MSG Sphere will be equipped with 19,000 by 13,500 resolution LED screens which will spread across the interior of the venue. The wraparound screen will measure 160,000 sq ft (15,000 m2). It will be the largest and highest-resolution LED screen in the world. The exterior of the venue will feature 54,000 m2 (580,000 sq ft) of programmable lighting, which can be modified based on holidays, for example to depict the sphere as a Halloween pumpkin or a Christmas snow globe. The sphere will feature 164,000 speakers, and the sound system will deliver sound through the floorboards. 4D features, including scent and wind, will also be used.
"The arena will primarily host awards shows and concerts, in addition to other entertainment events.[55] Although it was not designed to host sporting events, there is the possibility of hosting matches for boxing and mixed martial arts, as well as esports tournaments. A 1,000-foot pedestrian bridge will connect the sphere to the Venetian Expo, and there are plans to build a new Las Vegas Monorail station to serve the MSG Sphere and The Venetian. However, these plans were put on hold in April 2020, due to the financial impact of the pandemic." (Wikipedia)
"The massive spherical structure that’s going up just behind The Venetian is actually an unprecedented and incredibly ambitious project that’s already been years in the making. It’s called the MSG Sphere, envisioned and created by the same company that owns “The World's Most Famous Arena" in New York City—Madison Square Garden (MSG),
The Travel Pulse reports.
"Madison Square Garden Entertainment is a world leader in live entertainment whose other brands include New York’s equally famous Radio City Music Hall and the Rockettes, The Beacon Theatre and Tao Group Hospitality.
"The orb-like superstructure that’s currently in progress is destined to become a state-of-the-art, ultra-high-tech entertainment venue unlike anything the world has seen so far, as well as the world’s tallest spherical structure at more than 500 feet wide and 300 feet tall."
"The Sphere isn't just a concert hall or an arena, it's a first-of-its-kind venue built to essentially be the perfect place for the biggest-name artists to host a residency. Only really big stars will even be able to consider playing there because it will hold over 17,500 concertgoers,"
TheStreet.com reports.
"Very few artists can sell out a venue that big for weeks at a time. And, for some perspective, Lady Gaga's residency takes place at MGM Resorts International's (MGM) - Get Free Report Park MGM which has 6,400 seats while Caesars Entertainment's Colosseum -- which hosts Adele, Garth Brooks, Rod Stewart, Sting, and Jerry Seinfeld -- only has 4,300,
"It's a 366-foot-high steel sphere that will "be covered with about 580,000 square feet of fully programmable LED panels, forming the largest LED screen on Earth," according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "The 17,500-seat venue will have a high-resolution display plane, which is larger than three football fields, the world’s largest beam-forming audio system with more than 160,000 speakers and it will deliver superior sound to every seat in the house."
